Nonsense Poetry #2: Butt Love

For this series of posts, we challenged ourselves to write an obscure-sounding poem with no intended meaning in mind. Then we all took turns analyzing each other’s poetry, to see if we could extract some meaning after the fact. It turns out, writing a truly meaningless poem is harder than it sounds!

Butt Love
By Sarah Sokol

Blossoming
Poetic Justice
Finds its wings in depths
Unknown to a child
Butt love
Is more powerful
In the end

Nick’s Analysis:
We'll keep this tactful... A simple ode to the finer things in life, Butt Love is a poem that penetrates deeply into the source of our greatest hopes and fears. It seems that justice is a dish best served warm and smelly.
Stephen’s Analysis:

This poem is about making a witty comeback at someone else’s expense.  The comeback is so good it can be called “poetic justice” and is sent winging with the rapidity and biting nature so foreign to children.  You have made your enemy the butt of your joke and had the last word, and you love it.
